One step at a time

Let’s make it

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and honey. Let sit until foamy, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add melted butter, whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir to form a soft dough.
  3. Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 45 minutes.
  5. Divide dough into 12 equal pieces and shape each into a ball. Place in a greased 9x13-inch baking pan.
  6. Cover again and let rise for 15 minutes.
  7. Bake at 375b0F for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Remove from oven and brush tops with a little melted butter, if desired. Let cool slightly before serving.

A little kitchen know-how

Use warm (not hot) water for activating yeast to ensure proper rising.

Storage & leftovers

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze for up to 1 month. Reheat rolls in a 350b0F oven covered with foil for 10 minutes if frozen.
