One step at a time

Let’s make it

  1. Heat oven to 375°F. Grease an 8-inch square baking dish.
  2. Toss apples with lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, and 1 tablespoon flour. Spread in the dish.
  3. Mix oats, 1/2 cup flour, brown sugar, and salt. Rub in cold butter until crumbly and scatter over apples.
  4. Bake 35–40 minutes until the fruit bubbles and apples are tender. Rest 15 minutes before serving.

A little kitchen know-how

Use a firm baking apple such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp so the slices retain some texture.

Storage & leftovers

Refrigerate covered within 2 hours for up to 3 days. Reheat portions until hot throughout.
